☘️People often ask me why we chose this name for our bastide …☘️

FONTVIEILLE, our village, is famous for Alphonse Daudet’ novel Letters from my windmill, but it s also home to the Provencal poet Frederic Mistral, who wrote Mireille, a tragic love story often compared to a Provencal version of Romeo and Juliet.

The previous owner, Mireille, witnessed her family build this bastide in 1850. So to honour both the family history and our Provencal roots, we naturally chose the name Bastide Mireio. A name that reflects the past and the soul of this unique place.
